  Not aJW, but have a question

  i hope it's alright that i post a question, even though i've never had any affiliation with jw organization.

  i have a friend who has been trying to convince me for years to study with jw.

  i've been doing alot of research on jw and was just wondering if people here would be kind enough to tell me why they have decided to quit their affiliation with jw organization.

  I left primarily because I dared to study the Bible without the WTBTS literature to "guide and interpret" its meaning for me. It didn't take long to figure out that the WTC is in the habit of "going beyond the things written".

  They just do not get it- There are rules and laws in the NT, and then there are principles, prophecies, etc.

  Rules and laws need no interpretation,

  As for principles, prophecies, etc, each Bible Student has the potential to interpret these differently.

  The WTBTS attempts to seat itself as God and Mediator, becoming the Anti-Christ and Man of Lawlessness, like every other religion, by stating that if members disagree, on Biblical grounds, with "their interpretation", that one is somehow an "Apostate". Nothing could be further from the truth. The WTBTS are the Apostates, because they go beyond what is written", breaking God's law.

  BA- Not my fault that my last name is "Apostate". But, it's kinda catchy.

  Evaluating Raymond Franz

  what do you think of ray(mond) franz?

  i have seen here some people critisise him as not being a really heartfelt opponent of the wts, but my view is that he was quite honest about his expressed motives against the cult.

  with his revelations he gave a lot of momentum to the ex jw movement (the apostate organisation according to the jws) and offered valuable assistance to those seeking to shake off the ideological and social dependance on the oppressive cult.

  Once a puppet of the org, Ray realized he'd been duped. Much like most on this board. I think it was great that he published his expose. The world is a better place because of Ray.

  Playing the lottery. Why does the WTBS ban it?

  the megamillions in new jersey (where i work) and other states is up to u.s.$260,000,000.

  got my ticket, my hopes and my dream.

  i can't remember the reason why as a jw i was told it was wrong to participate in the lottery, bingo and other such games.

  Maybe I don't want to live in Paradise

  when i was a teenager, and really trying hard to be a "super witness" i remember thinking that if all the wicked people were destroyed, how would this change our everyday life.. what happends to the people that supply electricity, water, garbage collection, gas, fuel for cars, mechanics, farmers, cattle herders, etc.... how would we survive?

  if armafoggeten happened in the winter would those in colder climates die?.

  i you were on some sort of medical equipment that required electricity, would you die if there is no one a run to work in the electrical plant?.

  Dr. Evil in paradise? Yes...yes...now it all makes sense. Now I understand all the weird rules that they've come up with over the years... Perhaps it could be just a <tiny> bit evil? Perhaps we could sometimes be allowed an ill temper?

  Mental condition of Jehovah's Witnesses, healthy or not ?

  i thought i'd open a discussion on the mental health condition of most practicing jws.

  and get viewpoints on what kinds of mental health effects the wts.

  may have for most of the people that are practicing witnesses.

  I'd be willing to bet that if a brain sample of most practicing JWS were conducted, a very large percentage would show alcohol saturation and/or prozac and other anti-depressant abuse.

  Wouldn't be surprised at all.

  That's one vote for "not healthy" from Brother Apostate.

  Another good way to get hours was to arrange to hit a not at home close to the KH, right after service, and then arrnge a string of not at homes around the outskirts of the territorry such that you could get 4 hours in fom 6-8 not at homes.

  Plus, you could leave old magazines at the doors you went to and count them without ever talking to anyone other than the car group.

  Then you could go eat at a diner, mention God to the wait staff, and count that too.

  Being creative always kept the publishing and pioneer hours lookin' good!

  Never.

  But I was creative. Sometimes, we'd feed WTBTS literature to the goats at the petting zoo.

  Figured we were providing food at the proper time to goat like ones.

  Plus we could get 8 hours of time in a box of old magazines.
